I have been growing orchids, with lots of hiccups in between. One such big hiccup cost me the entire orchid collection!

I think it sounds wonderful to have outside orchids all year! I have one on my porch (in Virginia, USA) but I know all my plants must come in by frost. Kind of limits how many I have!

Hmmm...you do have to shift them inside when the weather turns cold frown

But, I believe you are better off there in Virginia because think it this way, to have year round orchids on your porch you need to have a warmer tropical climate at the most. Living in tropics means sharing your home with mosquitoes, spiders (especially big ones), leeches, all kinds of ants, maybe sometimes a scorpion or two. Snakes might visit you once in a while! sick

Orchids can survive any where, so just be happy and take care your plants. Take pride in quality than in quantity! I was heartbroken when I lost all my orchids. Now, I keep a limited number of plants, orchids included. Easier to manage and lesser space is required smile
