But, I believe you are better off there in Virginia because think it this way, to have year round orchids on your porch you need to have a warmer tropical climate at the most. Living in tropics means sharing your home with mosquitoes, spiders (especially big ones), leeches, all kinds of ants, maybe sometimes a scorpion or two. Snakes might visit you once in a while!

Orchids can survive any where, so just be happy and take care your plants. Take pride in quality than in quantity! I was heartbroken when I lost all my orchids. Now, I keep a limited number of plants, orchids included. Easier to manage and lesser space is required
