I found it very helpful to have a box right by the front door that I put a tape label on, reading DONATIONS.

This encourages Dan and I to put things in the box that I can take to Goowill, or wherever, on my way out for errands. It's convenient, and allows us to easily put stuff aside to donate (rather than throw away), and keeps the clutter down by the front door area. Previously I would just stack stuff, willy nilly, near the shoes. This is much neater.

I am also going to put a box by the door to be labeled RETURNS.

My local library has a box by their door where they pass along used magazines, free to the community. I've been putting my used magazines in my personal Donations bin for them, and I drop them right off into that library box. It is very convenient to have a place to put them, instead of competing for space with my keys and purse on the shelf by the door.

I usually take a few magazines from the library too...and then bring them back for others when I'm done!

How do you store your donationables at your house?

I am loving my Donate and Returns bins. Even though they're only cardboard boxes with tape labels on them, they work perfectly.

I find it so convenient to have this donation box by the door, instead of just randomly and haphazardly stacking things wherever. The secret is really having a home for every category of thing in your life.

Anyone else make a Donations Box in their home yet?
