I find a lot of these flocked, plastic lined tablecloths - things people throw away, just because they have a small tear on them somewhere. The have tons of uses besides covering tables.

Here are a few:

Dropcloth for painting, messy projects on the kitchen table, crafting area, workshop table. sorting recyclables, whatever.

Diaper changing (keep in the car).

Emergency blanket - keep in car or bug-out bag, or take on a day hike. since it is warm on one side and water-resistant on the other, this is far better than having nothing on hand.

Also gives you something to sit on for impromptu outdoor outings, picnics, or concerts in the park. Keep in the car or in a picnic basket.

Put on tables for re-potting plants. Fold up and carry outside to shake out the soil when you're done - they put back away with your potting supplies.

Keep kitten or puppies on one in their area, so it is easy to clean their soiling mistakes

Keep in the car to use as something to lie on the ground when doing car repairs, or changing the tires by the side of the road.

Also for in the car - something to pull over your belongings to keep them out of sight, for when you are going to be parking in public somewhere.

What other ideas?

Here's another - sit on a plastic tablecloth at the beach. Larger than a beach towel, and the sand slides right off.
