“The Universe comes to London,” read the banner on the courtyard wall of the Kensington Conference and Events Centre. Images of the Universe, people who study it, ideas about how it works, and equipment for seeing it occupied the center for the two days of European Astrofest 2014.
At Astrofest I had the pleasure of meeting Rob McNaught. He was the discoverer of the Great Comet of 2007 (mainly visible in the southern hemisphere). He's also discovered some seventy other comets and numerous asteroids and supernovae. Here is a spectacular picture that includes Comet McNaught.

A quite entertaining one was Bill Gutsch's presentation about the special effects in science fiction films, "Astronomy Goes to Hollywood".
