Lovely Tiny Red Chili

Lovely tiny red chili,
How you mature so seductively.
Although you add spiciness to every dish,
I have just one wish.
As you are removed from the pot,
Ay caramba, must you be so damned hot!

Sluggish?

A garden slug is a real pest,
Slime-ly gnawing away at a plant's very best.
Now lurkers you need not be a slug,
Verse-ly you can join in and be quite a witty bug.

Hi Les and all,

Let's hope that the lurkers will join in and not be sluggish...

Arty-Archibald

A is for Artichoke, so easy to grow
Tastes just great for those in the know
The leaves are medicinal, the flowers pink and pretty
Harvest the fruit - you've none? More's the pity.

I have been having fun writing lots of these so hope to post them regularly - please join in if you haven't already.

Wonder what Ogden Nash would say about our take on his verse ...
worse? curse? terse?

Smile now!

He Said, She Said

“You're gardening for hours.
And what good are flowers?
When they blow in the breeze,
they make me sneeze.
A poppy is sloppy,
a lily is silly
and daffodils don't pay the bills.”

“Yes, I hear.
Right, of course my dear.
But have a tot of hemlock tea,
That'll cure your allergy.”

Tit for Tat she did

Parley is gharsely said Ogden in verse
but Hemlock, like parsley's much worse;
So here sweet dearest is your tot of tea
What? You can't breathe? Oh no - let me see!

Poor Socrates!

Cheers now

Adverse- Maybe?
Converse- Maybe?
Perverse- Maybe?
Herbiverse- Definitely!
Carniverse- Definitely Not!

M&L
Mona and Lestie poetically ain't no slugs,
Creatively deserving more than merely just shrugs.
So let's plant on them a bouquet of appreciative hugs.

Hey there and thanks for this Les - hugs accepted with pleasure anytime!

So should we carry on? I think so. Just because - and so here are two for Monday...join in people, thanks.

Argument about Lemons

A lemon tree is always free
To scent up my garden for me
Sour and tart by way of fruit
Is that nice? I say it's moot.

And

Flower Fever

A Dahlia won't fail'ya ... a Glad'll make you smile
And Daffodils will grab your heart for a while
But my favourite favourite certainly pulls rank
What's yours? Ag, just fill in the blank!

Good week to you all! Cheers

Lestie, before your computer goes kaput,
Here's one more Ogdenian input.

The Fragrance of Guavas
Some say guava,
Others claim guayaba, kuawa, or even guyava.
Delicious they certainly are,
Either fresh or from a jar.
Yet, whether fleshy white or pink,
Overripe, they really stink!

Bouquet of hugs

Ahhh, the blossoms in the bower,
so beautiful each flower
and deliciously scented.
But will the slithery slugs
and bothersome bugs
perhaps make me demented?
Ha! No! Braveheart shrugs.
And says thanks, kind sir, for the bouquet of hugs.

Aphids begone!

For a companion plant of note
Go for Marigold she wrote
Scented orange and lemon drops
Have Pyrethrum, so the bugging stops!
