Shyness is often a result of negative feelings of oneself. A weak self image coupled with a disability can be overcome with developing new social skills. Social skills can improve through following a few steps.

It's so true that social skills need to be taken seriously. They impact pretty much everything else a person has to do in life. Sometimes a negative situation creates a feedback loop where the person becomes even more shy, so they have more problems in social situations, so they become more shy, etc.

Taking even small steps like short Zoom chats can start the ball rolling in the other direction.
