Hi--My husband and I have a three-year-old heeler-GSD mix whom we've had since she was four months old. We are both teachers, and although we spend a lot of time with her after school (and on vacations, obviously), we feel bad about leaving her home during the work day. She gets tons of "family" time, dog-park time and exercise after school and on the weekends; in fact, she loves car rides and we take her everywhere we go--except to work. She truly is a member of our family. We are just worried that she's lonely during the day. So we are considering getting a little "brother" for her. We want to make sure she is our #1 priority, so if we get another dog, we don't want one coming in and dominating her.

My questions: If you have a second (or third . . .) dog, when did you know that it was "right"? Did your first dog have jealousies--and, if so, how did you deal with them? How do you create that balance? If you don't have more than one, why not?

Thanks! smile
