Do you find the process of taking tests different from online versus on campus bachelor's degrees? Did you have to use a proctor?

I used to have to go to a testing center. More recently I have taken quizzes and tests at home in a closed system, called blackboard.

Hi AKLisa:

It depends on the university as well. If you are attending a local university, they typically require you to come into a testing center. If you are taking a test from an online university, sometimes they'll have you find an approved proctor for testing. It’s nice they are finding ways to allow testing online, that makes distance learning even more convenient.

Thanks for your feedback.

It's important not to be afraid about going to a testing center or using a proctor. When I first had to use a testing center I was really intimidated but after the first time it wasn't so bad.

I completely agree. Using to testing centers can be a bit intimidating, but if you drown out the cameras and just focus on the work, it can be a nice quiet atmosphere to really concentrate on your work.

The environment in which you take your test makes the whole difference. For instance, if you have have been taking your degree online and you are forced to attend a center for the test, the new environment can distract you and affect your performance.

Yes, the first few times you take a test in a different environment, it can be a bit distracting, but I have personally found it gets easier with time. You know what to expect.

My first "go" at doing distance education was with proctors and I couldn't find any in my area. I also found the whole idea greatly intimidating. That was the sole reason I didn't finish my degree at the time. With the modern online Blackboard system, I found it incredibly easy, relaxing, and I enjoyed it immensely.

I am thrilled with the blackboard system where I can do my tests in a relaxing atmosphere. It makes all the difference in the world.

I've been using proctors for about a year now. Some are more welcoming than others. Recently I've moved within driving distance of my college campus, and I really prefer the proctored settings to their testing center there.
