Yesterday, Monday Sept 30th, I did a big book launch for Sworn Loyalty. At the same time I did a giveaway of Creating Memories, another one of my novels, to stir up interest for the series in general. The free giveaways are part of the Kindle Exclusive option you can choose for your Kindle books.
The free giveaway caused that book to reach #2 on the free medieval novel section -

So being in that #2 spot is great. It means every single person popping into that free area sees me. They are exactly my target audience. Those people are the ones I want to know about my books. It's ideal.
Now, as I’ve mentioned before, ALL that people can see in these screens is the cover and the title. That cover has to be crystal clear. The title has to lure them in.
The first person’s cover (The Bride and the Brute) is awful. Fuzzy, the title is illegible, it’s a mess. Mine, at least, is clear and beautiful. So I think they’re more likely to click. But it’s important to realize the reader doesn’t see anything else. They don’t see descriptions or key words or anything. They make a decision to click based solely on the title and cover. That cover has to be absolutely perfect in terms of sucking them in.
I have this free campaign running for five full days to get that book to sit at that spot and draw in readers to my series. Hopefully they will then buy my other books.
Let me know if you have any questions about getting your free book high in your chosen category! You can see that Amazon makes it super easy for readers to then find and get those free books.
