I was extremely disappointed in The Lorax. I took my grandson, age 2, to see it thinking that it would be ok. The trailers all looked good...cute, fuzzy characters. The movie was drawn out and boring and he was scared by it. Our sitter said her friend also had to leave the theater because her 4 yr old was afraid.

I didn't see it, but it was sold out at the movie theater I go to. A lot of parents brought their kids. That's the sad thing about kid's movies these days, so few of them are actually for the kids.

Hmmm. I wanted to take my 4 year old to see it as well. Now I'm second guessing that decision.

I'm not sure there are many movies I can think of that a 2-4 year old would sit through 2 hours of. I think that age range, at least in my experience, does better with a DVD at home where they can get up and take breaks as needed.

So maybe it might be better to wait for DVD on this one as well?

I think it's probably a good thing that young kids are active and interested in moving around smile We can all learn from them!

Flip through the book when you go to the store. In the movie, the Once-ler scenes are very dark. It reminded me of a cartoonish version of something Tim Burton would have come up with. The movie has some cute parts, but.....

This one is best left for DVD. The cute furry characters being used in commercials are deceptive. The movie is not all bright and bubbly. It's about caring more about materialism and industrialism than nature. All of the trees are cut down, people live in an artificial environment and the real outside world is dark...oozing with pollution...a dead environment.

He loved We Bought A Zoo and barely took his eyes off of the screen.

Lyn, Thanks for sharing! I probably will wait for the DVD. It's like the movie "UP" when my nephew ran out of the room yelling, "I shouldn't be watching this." From a 5 year old, that's a rough review. I wish they would let children's movies be children's movies, but I understand the need for Hollywood to make money.

Interesting takes on this one.

I was leading a Tween Group when it came out. We read the book, watched the old one and then went to the movie to see the new one. There were mixed reviews on which version was best, but the kids really got the message.

Since then, we have bought the movie and my 3 year old loves it, mostly for the music.

Remember, Dr. Seuss was more of a comic strip activist at start.

Yeah, Dr. Seuss was good about a message and they really hammered it home with that. The music was good for kids, but I do agree on the darker nature. We did enjoy it though.

We loved "We Bought a Zoo" also.
