Hello! I just launched my first ebook with KDP. It is called Like a Flower Grows, Volume 1: Sixty Meditations on Walking with Christ and is now available on the Amazon website. It will be free on June 30 and July 1, 2013. Please help support my book launch by downloading a copy and passing along the information. Thanks.

So far, its going well, Tina. I have had about 450 copies of the ebook downloaded. Just last weekend, I used Createspace to format a POD print book. That is now also available. I ordered a few copies for myself, and they came out nice, and arrived very quickly in three days. Thanks.

Have you looked into listing it on the Apple and Nook platforms as well? You get fewer sales there, but there's also fewer books to compete with, so it's a way to reach a larger audience.

Lisa, right now I am enrolled in the 'Select' program so that I could promote my ebook with a free giveaway. When the promotion period ends, I will be looking into formatting for other platforms.

I would be interested in hearing opinions from others on which they feel is more important to overall self-publishing success - putting additional titles out (I have two more books the same length pretty written and edited but that need to be formatted) or putting a single title out on multiple platforms. Since I have very limited time to work on my writing projects, I need to decide where my time is best spent and in what order to proceed.

Thank you Lisa and Jori and Ladies smile

I find it's better to focus on one thing at a time because I can feel very overwhelmed very fast. I also wanted to mention some time ago I read comments from Amanda Hocking. You probably know about her, that she had taken books she wrote years ago, and formatted them into ebooks. She has been quite successful in self publishing, and then received book offers. She mentioned on twitter that only I think 60% of her sales came from Amazon. The rest of the sales came from Apple and Nook and Barnes and Nobile.

If I am incorrect about the exact percentage please forgive me. But it stood out in my mind that she mentioned, as Lisa is also mentioning, to utilize Apple, Nook, Barnes and Noble as well as Amazon.

I myself have only used Amazon because I find it easy. But I hope in the future when I have some actual free time to learn how to list my books with the other bookstores.

smile

It takes maybe 20 minutes to pop your ebook onto Lulu, which then gets it onto the other two platforms - Apple and B&N Nook. So that shouldn't be a "factor" in deciding what else to work on. That is incredibly quick, easy, and is a one time thing.

In that area, the decision really is whether to stay exclusive to Amazon or not. In my situation, I keep a few books exclusive so I can do the regular free promotions. That then boosts traffic for all the books I write. For most of them, I am non exclusive so I can get the additional sales on the Apple / Nook side.
