LUCKY YOU IS RIGHT! I hope it's Spanish saffron, that's the best. I use a lot of saffron in Indian cooking, esp desserts! But here's a super quick dessert recipe that's right up your alley :-) And, yes -- a little goes a very long way.
Soak a small pinch of saffron in a tbsp of lukewarm milk & steep for about 10 minutes or so. Stir this into plain Greek yogurt & sprinkle with lightly toasted almond slices or pistachios pieces. YUMMY!
You can add saffron to any yogurt-based marinade -- great for chicken or any meat.
You can also add a pinch into any fruit-flavored yogurt based smoothie, I add it to my mango lassi.
Here are a few of my recipes:
Cashew Saffron Shrimp Recipe Saffron Cheescake Recipe There are a lot more saffron based recipes on my site if you are interested. Saffron tastes great in both sweet & savory rice dishes. You can even add a pinch to your lemonade! It's also good in milkshakes & you can even make a saffron flavored martini! Basically any recipe that will work well with a floral aroma & subtle floral flavor will work well with saffron.
Saffron also always tastes better when steeped & if the strands are ever so gently slightly crushed between your fingertips before adding to anything.
I love saffron, so enjoy :-)
