I've been fortunate to observe several pairs of birds nesting in or near my yard. Some of the birds that nested are Bluejays, Titmice, Cardinals, Brown Thrashers, Mocking Birds, Finches, Wrens, Mourning Doves, Chickadees, and Bluebirds. Others that have brought there young to my yard were several types of Woodpeckers, Starlings, Sparrows, Orioles, Cowbirds, and Grosbeaks.
I have Bluebird nest boxes for the Bluebirds and they just completed their third nest. Three families of Cardinals have brought at least 16 young ones. Two nested in my yard but they have been here for several years. The Chickadees also nested in a nestbox. The mocking birds have always nested in my yard trees. Earlier this year, I had 28 mourning doves that hung around until my Cooper Hawk friend began frequent visits. I think he may have captured two of myh favorite Cardinals and Bluejays, They were tamed a bit but I have not seen them lately. Also, I had more American Goldfinches this year than the previous year. One day my wife and I counted over 70 birds at one time. They were everywhere. One Cardinal wakes us every morning around 5:30 am. I really enjoy the Chickadees and Titmice. My favorites are Bluebirds and the Grosbeaks.
