I've been spending money on gas for my car the last few weekends, since I've been doing a lot of camping. I can't get over how expensive it is to fill a tank nowadays.

I also took my friend out for dinner for his birthday, which I couldn't afford to do really, but this is an important friend.

I also have been picking up cat food, but at least I have ways to get discounts on that.

Jilly -

It's even more astounding when one realizes how cheap gas is in the US. Most places pay far, far more than we do for gas. To them gas is a precious commodity that is treasured drop by drop. So in a way we have it sort of easy.

Today was a challenging day for me, money-wise. I had a lunch meeting with one group. Then a dinner meeting with another group. So I spent much more than usual (usually I spend zero). But both meetings were quite important and gave me a lot of valuable, helpful information in terms of building traffic.

Lisa, in many of those countries they have decent public transportation, which makes up a bit, in my mind, for the gas prices. smile

In the village where I live an american gallon costs $4.94
If it were a canadian gallon $5.65.
In the city the gas sometimes goes up to $5.70 american gallon,
canadian gallon $ 6.75.

I remerber in 1970 when I did drag racing,Sunoco 260 the highest
octane ever made for cars cost #0.69 for a canadian gallon!

Today I bought a 5 pound bag of ground round hamburger. As a special now and then the butcher offers it cheaper per pound if you buy it in bulk 5 pound bags. I can use it to make hamburgers, salisbury steaks, meatloaf, stuffed peppers, or brown it up to put in pasta sauce. I don't eat a lot of beef but it is nice to have it on hand for when I have the urge once in a while to indulge. I will separate the meat into 5 equal packs and freeze them. I like that I saved about $1.00 per pound.

I usually freeze my ground beef in quarter pound patties. They defrost quickly and I can easily tell how many I need for a recipe.

I just paid the satellite bill by phone with a credit card, my parents were supposed to take care of that but lately I have been checking them carefully (should of woke up about that earlier than a few months ago since they have stolen my savings), today was the last day so I told my mom (my dad is off somewhere outside) that this is in my name and just now she decided to tell me that it was almost always paid late! They're probably jealous of me since I have a good name and have always paid my bills fully and on time so they wanted me to be like them without a good name. So now my mom is angry at me, I'm used to her acting like a baby so I don't care anymore. They did it so sneaky too because I had taken that bill out last week when they went out to run errands and they had put it where they put the paid bills so I thought it was done, now I have 0% trust in these two people and I know 100% that when I am out of here they will not know my phone number and address.

I purchased two quarts of Brunswick Stew from a local organization.
