Yes, there are some natural and synthetic supplements that can help one reduce weight but they are not magic pills. They actually affect one of the body systems to help speed up metabolism which is what "burns" fat. The body "burns" fat by requiring its calories for energy output so it draws out the stored reserves of calories.
There are ways to get the body to use the stored fat:
1. Exercise. Exercise calls for all of the body systems to kick into gear. The heart, the lungs, the muscle groups, the skin (perspiration), etc. All require extra calories.
2. Speed up metabolism. Exercise naturally speeds up metabolism as outlined above. Some substances cause the heart rate to increase (caffeine, guarana). Diet pills use this method which ca be dangerous. They can cause anxiety and heart palpitations among other side effects.
3. "Fat blockers" prevent the absorption of fat as the food is digesting. Side effects include diarrhea as oily fat passes through. Do you research because studies still haven't shown if these alter the body's ability to absorb nutrients. Reason would say that chronic diarrhea causes the body to pass food before it can be properly digested. Carb blockers work the same only they block the absorption of carbs (glucose. Carbs turn into glucose.)
4. Diuretics. These deplete the body of its stores of water. The bulkiness of fat comes from the water stored in the fat cells. Get rid of the water, the fat cells decrease in size, giving the appearance of fat loss. But the body won't target the water stored in the fat cells over the other cells in the body, including the brain cells. Dehydration is dangerous. It causes mental confusion, seizures and death.
Anything that interferes with the body's natural functions comes with a price. Better to "burn" those fat stores naturally by having your body use them up through exercise. Decrease your food intake in a healthful way so the body will need those calories in the fat cells. No need to starve. Just cut back to just under what a body at your weight level requires to maintain that weight.
