Every one loves canvas shoes not only because of its price and durability, but also for they are versatile alternative to leather. But canvas shoes features in susceptible to water, easy to get dirty, hard to clean. It is important to know how to protect your canvas shoes and maintain the colors. The following are some tips I learned from ehow, hoping they are helpful. Wear absorbent socks; change your socks daily, or after heavy sports. It’s helpful to keep the canvas dry and prolong their life. Loosen your laces before removing your shoes. Pulling your feet out of tight shoes can put stress on the seams. Remove your shoes with your hands, not with your other foot. Stepping on a heel and slipping the foot out of the shoe can stretch the canvas. Repeatedly doing can cause the rubber sole to fall apart. Remove any dirt with a fine-bristled brush, such as a toothbrush. Scrub the shoes with the sponge. Use the toothbrush to scrub away at tough or especially dirty spots. Rinse the sponge and wipe away any excess soap residue from the shoes. Blot the surface of the shoes with one of the hand towels and stuff a hand towel in each shoe. Turn on a floor fan and place the canvas shoes in front of it to speed drying.

Louis - all good points thanks. I also learnt that used green tea leaves helps to get rid of the odour, if people are prone to sweaty, smelly feet, especially leather or canvas shoes. Also charcoal tends to absorb odour, and the Japanese especially sell large sticks / disks of charcoals for such a purpose. I use it to put in my shoe cupboards too.
