In the armor customization list, dark matter x99 gives you ribbon...what is ribbon first of all and how in the hell do you get 99 dark matter. Thanks whoever can help.

If you capture five of EVERY monster, the arena master will give you 99 of them, you can win them in blitzball(one at a time), every omnster in the monster arena will drop them (rarely), you can bribe them from the land worm in sin for 1600000

Since Ribbon is not available on the american version of the game, I do not have direct experience with Ribbon. From what I understand the closest I can come to it is: armor with Berserkproof, Confuseproof, Stoneproof, and Auto Med.

From what I understand, Ribbon blocks all status effects. Hope that helps. Gerb has the international version, and can prob tel lyou from direct experience.

yeah-ur right jess.it protects against all status ailments, but i don't know if its got auto-med on it-i don't think it should have-i hate automed!

ribbon protects against all status ailments (apart from curse i think). But not from some of the status effects from dark aeons (shiva's heavenly strike still causes death and bahamuts impulse will still inflict 'break' effects)

Ok, having faced and beaten all the Dark Aeons, and having some of the best armour in FFX, I think I can clear some of this up:

Ribbon prevents any negative status effects apart from curse, so the best armour to get would be one with Ribbon AND Curseproof on it (try Dark Yojimbo for that).

It DOES prevent Heavenly Strike from inflicting Instant Death, and Bahamut CANNOT petrify you with Impulse if you have Stoneproof / Ribbon on your armour.

I speak from experience.

Sorry about break thing i meant full break and i've just checked this and dark shiva's heavenly strike killed one of my party outright with no damage figures so in my version (UK) it does penetrate the ribbon
