What is your opinion on the media saying there are "unfilled" jobs = employers cannot find help?

Suggestions such as these come to mind:

(1) How about paying someone to relocate to fill these jobs.

(2) Find out why the jobs are not being filled - find a solution.

What are your thoughts on this subject?

I'm curious as to what jobs are unfillable as well or if this yet another media ploy.

There are certain careers which may be difficult to fill because they require a certain type of degree and experience, but I don't think there is a wealth of jobs that are unfillable for no reason. Just my thoughts smile

LOL Dianne, I was thinking the same thing and read a few of the articles = hey, I would relocate or travel to one of these jobs.

But like you said, more "discussion" and nothing was ever really said. I am so into "details" and "proof" - and yes, I agree - some jobs do need a degree. Who would want me playing doctor/lol.

Sometimes I wonder where the media gets their story ideas from????

Hmmmm, maybe some of them need to be "laid off" so that they can write about the TRUE facts of unemployment. Sorry, but had to go there wink

Personally, I think they are trying to generate some stories to keep their jobs and of course the doors of their employers' organization open. What usually happens in these cases - some unemployed person challenges the story and little things pop up. Media needs to realize that a lot of us have a lot of time to bug them about stories because we do not have a regular 9 to 5 job. More people are finally getting involved in what happens in their lives. I guess it takes looking at the possibility of being homeless to get you talking.

I am encouraged and hope to see more people speaking up!

I think education plays a big part in why jobs are left unfilled and nobody will listen to sensible debate about the subject without boiling down the talking points into political rhetoric. That only spurs knee-jerk reactions, finger pointing, spouting out statistics, and polarizes people. So of course nothing gets resolved.

Welcome Lisa CC - I see you joined us on 8/21/12 smile

Yes, politics seems to be the big thing right now and I am so over all the promises to fix the unemployment issues.

Those promises have a way of not being filled once the elections are over.

Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by and sharing with us - hope to see you again....
