Just back from the dentist. My checkups have been perfect ever since I went on my low carb diet - a great side benefit!

Do you guys see this too?

Dear Jilly -

It's great that your braces set your teeth for life. For many people, including me, braces were a temporary fix. Our teeth move constantly as we age, and they can easily slide into new positions which are less than ideal!

It's also best to avoid acidic foods for healthy teeth. :)

Dear Emilyyy -

My theory is that the mouth is already acidic, with saliva in it. I'm a wine writer so I drink wine daily. Even with daily wine drinking my teeth are in great shape, so it can't be too bad!

Moderation in everything smile

I wonder if i had a really good orthdontist? My teeth were really really wonky. One of the canines was backwards.

But they pulled about 8 to 12 teeth from my mouth to make room for the rest. He said I had a small jaw. So maybe pulling so many teeth made sure that not much shifting would occur in the future.

That could very well be - maybe now they have oodles of space so there's no pressure at all!

For many people who have braces when they're young, their teeth get crooked again later on. I know several people in that state.
