A first question (of myriads that keep occurring to me ;) ): do any of you have questions/topics that you just can't ask the cards about - or strongly feel you shouldn't, as if they are 'off limits'? Some things I suspect I'm not letting myself ask in case I get an answer I don't like. But others don't matter so much to me and I don't know why I'm reluctant. Is this a beginner thing?

Perhaps if you are feeling that way it is because the questions themselves are drawing up some fears in you that you should address? Often times, the questions themselves open up doorways for us to explore that go beyond just Tarot. If you truly feel uncomfortable asking a question ask yourself what it is you are truly afraid of - likely it's not the cards, but perhaps that you kind of have an inkling what the answer may be or that the questions are bringing out insecurities things of that nature.

Other times this may be because you don't trust your intuition to guide your readings yet - so you hesitate.

That being said, there are a variety of opinions regarding "taboo" subjects. For me, I will not use Tarot to "be nosey" For example when doing readings for clients - I will only look at a 3rd party if that person is connected with the questioner. If the questioner just wants to know information about someone for no real reason I feel that is a privacy breach and I won't go there... things like that. Different readers have different ethics they go by and they work according to the principles of their beliefs.

Great question and welcome to the forums smile enjoy!

Thanx for that reply, Christin, food for thought :) and yes, some of them are certainly things I don't want (to acknowledge) the answer to - not all though. One is about a purchase: will I use it all the time or will it gather dust? Another is what's up with my dog? ! Feels silly asking about a pet, but 'Power Tarot' includes a spread to find out how a pet is feeling; and she (the dog) has been a bit not-herself for a week or so. I have wondered if this is about the 'someone else' taboo - not meant to know? Maybe the dog doesn't know how she's feeling... that doesn't seem a reason not to find out for her, though. Maybe she hasn't asked me to do the reading. (With healing, I can always check whether she wants or welcomes the healing, and sometimes she doesn't.) With deciding about the possible purchase I have NO idea what's stopping it. With that, I've done readings and every one has been the kind that I just can't make sense of. I suppose I'll have to believe the instinct, and wait perhaps a long time to find out why it's there. Looking at your own website, by the way, it's a great friendly site :) and your chatty 'About me' page - you and I seem to have had not dissimilar paths. I wonder how many people who get into 'this kind of thing' have similar experiences?

I think its fine to look at your pet, after all they are family and they depend on us for their safety. I had a cat, my dearest friend who crossed recently, and he was much the same way. We could communicate very well, but he was odd at times and just didn't want to share everything and if I pushed him too far he would give me angry eyes lol, I miss him so much- even the angry eyes smile I did at times do readings to help me to help him when I sensed he was stressed. We moved a lot the first several years of his life and then I had kids and all kinds of big changes. We do get that intuitive connection with them and can certainly sense when something is not right. Tarot can be a great way to fill in the blanks and get ideas on how to help them.

Thanks for checking out my site smile glad to hear we have some similarities on our paths. Yes, others do often come from similar backgrounds as I have had people tell me over the years that they related to my background.
