How many courses do you feel you can take at a time and still get all the information from each one? One at a time? Two? More?

One of the students in one of my courses says once she gets past two at a time she can't track them all. The idea intrigues me.

I think it depends on whether you are taking a full courseload because it is your main goal at the time or whether you are taking courses around a full time job, raising children, or other goals in your life at the same time.

I think if school time was my main focus I could handle 4 or 5 courses. But when I was working full time, I didn't want to take more than one at a time so I could really concentrate on it.

I think it also depends on the timeframe for the courses. If you take traditional semesters, where classes last approx. 16 weeks, I think I could easily handle 4-5 courses at one time. My school is non-traditional with semesters at th 16-week schedule, but my lit courses are all 16-week courses whereas my English and history courses are 8-week courses, which include as much reading as a 16-week course. So, I take at least 4 courses in the 16-week semester, but only take 2-3 at a time, staggering their start dates.

I think two would be sufficient enough for me. But that's if I'm not working a full time job!
