6 Diet Trends You Should NEVER Try

So glad to see the stupid HCG diet on that list.

"The hCG diet is a very low-calorie plan (500 to 800 calories per day) supplemented with injections of the pregnancy hormone human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Any diet that drops below 1,000 calories is really unsafe for most of us to begin with, and youre apt to lose a lot of weight even if youre getting injected with milk shakes.:D laugh laugh Of course, the golden rule of dieting is that the faster it comes off, the more likely you are to regain it, so this diet would be on my list no matter whatbut the hCG shots raise so many red flags I dont know where to begin. Bottom line: Scientists dont know if hCG is safe to inject when youre not producing it naturally, so please dont be a weight-loss guinea pig."

Master Cleanse also made the list. If you're looking to cleanse or detox the healthy way try the Anti-Estrogenic Diet or Intermittent Fasting Instead. Learn more in these articles:

Master Cleanse vs. Intermittent Fasting
I've been keeping an I.F. journal in wl and exercise forums for over a year now. Love it!

Cabbage Soup, Raw Food, Breatharian Diet, and Ear Stapling shocked also made the list of worst ways to lose weight in 2012.

I agree 100% with this list. Wish low carb had also made the list. When will that dumb diet go away! Five more years 10 more years, maybe never (yes, I hate low carb so deal with it). If you hate low carb too try the Metabolic Typing Diet .

I read about the HCG diet and it seemed dangerous to me! I have added more raw foods to my diet this past year but I agree, I'd never go 100% raw.

I love cabbage soup too but not to eat exclusively.

These sort of diet trends aren't teaching healthy eating habits, which is the only way to really keep the weight off.

I also heard the that diet was extremely dangerous & in my area and on the radio the company is looking for people who want to do this! Claiming they will pay you as well as cover any medical costs! They are also praying on people who don't know better and/or feel like it will be worth it in money alone.

It is not right and should be stopped, don't you think?

I eat a lot of raw greens (blend dark leafy greens in my shakes) or snack on raw veggies before dinner and of course we often have raw veggie salads with cooked veggies too (combining raw and cooked tastes great) but I agree I would never go completely raw or exclude any food from my diet or resort to dangerous hormone injections either.

My feeling is HCG will eventually experience a backlash similar to all the diet pill lawsuits from the late 90's. The funny thing is nobody who does that silly diet loses quality weight. Most people who do it just end up a smaller fat person with awful hormonal imbalances that makes keeping the weight off a real chore.

If you teach your body that starving is the only way to lose weight then that is what your body will expect from that point forward so going back to a regular healthy diet isn't going to work. Anyway, I won't get started on all that smile. I've written about it a lot in the past.

Here Are 5 Basic Rules of Healthy Weightloss That Work

1. Exercise EVERY Day 20-60 min. a day (combination of cardio, weights, and flexibility work)
2. Eat adequate amounts of clean food (real food, organic food, no packaged diet cra*)
3. Reduce stress and have fun
4. Address food triggers
5. Fix your emotional drama

It really is that simple grin

Thanks for this information! Unfortuantely people are looking for miracles to get rid of their extra weight. That's pretty sad that nowadays marketing can manipulate so much with people and a lot of people are not clear about reasons why they should lose weight forgetting that the main reason is their own health which is not worth any money or experimenting with their own bodies. Good to have people who are revealing these myths!

Hi there, I am new to this forum and am pleasantly surprised at your kudo's to intermittent fasting! It does work. As for the raw food, I have seen many people do well on it - for the first few weeks. (I had a holistic office in the Los Angeles area for 10 years.) After those few weeks, the people doing it started looking very unhealthy. I think a balanced, wholesome diet is best. As the saying goes; all things in moderation!
