BellaOnline Forums Family Christian Living Child-free, Professional Christian - Am I Alone?

Hello!
I've been around the Bella Married - No Kids forum for a while and it's been great. BUT, I am also a Christian and am really very lonely for other Christian women's friendship. My church is filled with stay-at-home, home-schooling Moms and I'm 100% a fish out of water. Love my church, just no true fellowship for me there.

Is there anyone else out there experiencing this? I'm 40-years old and for the first time in my life, I have NOBODY to just call up and chat or go hang out. I'm married now (for 3 years) and getting married was the worst thing I have ever done for my social life. My friends while single were often men and now that I'm restristed to women only, I find there arent' many who don't have child in tow. I don't have and don't want kids. I also don't enjoy just watching a Mom wrangle her child while we are trying to have a burger. SO, I am looking to see if there is anyone else out there who is Child-free but also Christian.

Just to clarify: I'm NOT looking to "find a friend" here. Just wondering if others have this struggle.

Welcome to the forum.
I'm sorry you haven't been able to find like-minded friends at your church. The women's groups I have been in have been a mix of all ages, with and without children. We all got along well in the groups and there was usually someone to build a deeper friendship with.
At 40, it seems that there would be women, while not child-free - whose children would be older and not be hanging out with mom.

Keep trying. Pray for God to send someone. He doesn't want us to do life without friends.

Be willing to overcome an obstacle or two. A friendship may develop that is worth the effort.
