Hola!

Do you find "tambin" and "tampoco" easy or difficult to use? Why?

This is the place where we can talk about these two Spanish words, where you can post some sentence and practice.

Hola Jilly!

Yes, they mean the same thing. The only difference between them is that "tambin" is used in affirmative sentences (or in an answer to affirmative sentences), while "tampoco" is used in negative ones (or in an answer to a negative sentence).

For example:

Yo tambin hablo espaol. (Affirmative)
(Imagine someone told you he/she speaks Spanish. And you tell him/her you speak Spanish too.)

Yo tampoco hablo espaol.(Negative)
(In this case, that person said he/she does not speak Spanish. And you answer him/her saying neither you speak the language.)

In case you have any question regarding these two words, feel free to post it or ask me.

Hope it helps!

Hi Jilly!

Using No + Tambin is very common among people learning Spanish. But that's not right.

Instead of saying: "Tampoco soy alta.", people use the wrong constructions "Tambin no soy alta." or "No soy alta tambin.".

As said before, this is quite common among students. But what I found really incredible is when I was listening to a conversation between 2 men, both from the North of Spain, and one of them answered:

"Yo tampoco no tengo hambre tampoco."

This is wrong! So, as you can see, even native Spanish speakers don't always apply rules the right way! eek

By the way, the correct form would be: "Yo tampoco tengo hambre."

Hope this helps!
