It is 300 years since the birth of Frederick II of Prussia on 24th January, and he is one of the most famous German Rulers, both for his military successes as a brilliant strategist and general, and for the ground breaking domestic reforms he introduced into his country.

It would be going to far to say he believed in equality, however there were many ways in which he tried to improve the lives of his subjects. Not something that happened very often in those days.
