I am very interested in learning more about who is doing what kinds of rugs. What are topics people are interested in when it comes to rugmaking? Weavers, crocheting, felting... What are some new ideas and styles people are trying. I look at rugmaking as a functional art form. Very much like hanging items or wearables... Rugs just happen to be "walkables".

Please leave information on ideas or rugmaking questions. I would really enjoy finding out who is doing what when it comes to rug making. I am developing some really fast projects for those of us who are so busy. One new idea I have is to knit the backing and then either hook or prod the rug. I am also going to be buying a new loom this upcoming week for rug making.

I make rugs for my pets and they like them. I use old cloths or scrap yarn. I mostly chrochet. When they don't look nice any longer after washing I just throw them away. I do so without any regrets, as they don't me cost anything. They take a few hours to make, but I rather do that instead of falling asleep in front of the tv.

Concerning a rug for your gray sofa. I would look around the entire room and pull in multiple colors. I would not try and match the gray as that would probably look as though it were a continuation of the sofa. What are some of the other colors in your room. Black rugs and carpets certainly add depth to a room but depth in a way that might appear as though it were a dark hole, plus black shows every piece of lint or dirt. I think pulling the room together at the rug might be nice and with a mixture of colors you would be able to not constantly be on your hands and knees trying to clean. Let me know how it goes.

Awesome idea. I love the recycle and disposable aspect of your pet rugs. And, I so agree with you on having something to do in front of the television. Have you ever tried rug braiding with rags?
