If you were going to move into a small frugal home, which choices sound the most appealing to you?

LOL Jilly, you must have read my mind. I have ALWAYS had an interest in the "tiny" houses ever since I saw my first article about it on Yahoo. Back then, it was not popular as the recession was not with us. But now folks are more interested.
I voted "Tiny House from kit" - although I am finding that the prices of some kits are getting ridiculous. Guess they figure now is the time to cash in on the need.
Now as far as the type of tiny house - I have seen ones in trees, not sure I would want one. Some on water and so on. Ideally, I would like one that looks like a cottage like from the show I am addicted to "Murder She Wrote" with Angela Langsbury - so serene.
Hugs, A

I love those tiny Tumbleweed houses. They are so cute.
My tiny home is a converted backyard shed. it was not hard at all to fix up for year round living. I needed a little bit of reframing on two walls, lots of insulation, drywall and a window. And some snap on laminate wood flooring i found used on craislist. Ta da!
DH is looking at yurt kits and the new shipping container conversions for his next tiny house, when he goes to Florida.

We live in an old school house (used to be one of those one room school houses). It is still in the two bedroom state we bought it in (luckily we had all girls, but there are three of them).
We would have thought we'd move to something bigger with three kids, but we make due and have a large attic we wish to convert to a romp room/music studio I think. The property is large and the location is perfect. Everytime we considered selling and moving we couldn't commit to do it.

Vi, i think that is frakking perfect! Keep your unique and oh so cozy home. How many people can say they live in an old school house? I love it.
The attic conversation could be really fun. It could be a nice loft area, like in Little House on the Prairie.
Angela, I love the idea of living in a treehouse. I actually have a few picture books where people have made treehouse homes.

Jilly, don't laugh too hard at me, but I feel comfortable asking you - what does DH mean? I love those tiny Tumbleweed houses. They are so cute.

Angela, I am sorry; i should not use texting abbreviations. DH is Dear Husband. Which he really isn't but it's habit to just write DH.
What would your dream treehouse be like?

No need to apologize Jilly, I needed to learn what DH means. I have been seeing it and didnot want to ask before asking you. Now I am a whole lot "text smart"(lol). Oh no, no treehouse for me girl. I hear snakes can climb and I don't do snakes. Yikes!!! But the treehouses are cute... ***Promise me to keep posting YOUR way - this forum is about being the best WE can be. Texting is fine with me, hey, maybe I will learn some more ***

The newest hit film: Snakes in a Tree. If you had a tiny house, what things that you own would live in it? What just would not fit or be inappropriate? For example, my antiques would really not work in a tiny space, unless they were items that were in daily use. And I have a lot of very nice furniture, but the tiny space lends itself to built-ins, like in a boat. So my furniture largely just isn;t in here.

LOL, I would fit into any tiny house right now as I gave up all my stuff I had accumulated over 14 years in my 1-bedroom apt to move into his house. And I guess with it being the first year, I still have not relaxed and gotten comfortable. Now ask me later this year and I may have started to relax and added stuff to the house. Snakes!!!!
