What is teewurst? I usually enjoy anything that ends in "wurst!"

Teewurst is a German sausage Connie. One of many but one of the easiest to spread, it's a bit like a thick paste really, and is a mixture of minced and seasoned pork and bacon, (2-1), which has been smoked over beech wood and then matured for about a week or so, and literally means �tea sausage�.

Often to be found on the table at breakfast and tea time to make open or closed sandwiches.

It was a specialty of what is now Poland, but the recipe 'travelled' to West Germany after WWII with refugees who had to flee the country.

Seen everywhere and incredibly popular but must admit not one of my favorites, not too keen on the texture or flavor somehow.

Thanks Francine. We have a new European Market about 10 miles from here. I may look for it there. It sounds like it could be tasty on either sourdough or pumpernickel toast.

Have you ever tried butter and blackberry jelly or jam on rye or pumpernickel toast? I just love that stuff!

What is Dutch loaf? Sounds interesting!

Liver Cheese with a bunch of mayo on very fresh white bread. (This one is nicknamed the fat with high fat special.)

Dutch Loaf is made with a mixture of pork and beef that has been coarsely ground. Added to this meat mixture are savory spices � which most manufacturers refer to as �natural spices.� This mixture of pork, beef and spices are then formed into a loaf shape, roughly the size of a loaf of bread, and then smoked. Once it is fully smoked, the Dutch Loaf is sliced thinly at the deli, meant to be served on bread.
