This week's article, 5 Ways to Increase Your Drive to Succeed, talks about ways we can motivate ourselves to succeed -- but these are only a few!

What's your secret to success? What drives you to achieve your goals?

Hi Gail:

The chance of being homeless(lol)

On the serious side, I have ALWAYS needed to be financially independent and that alone has kept me focused on having something behind me just in case I lose my income sources.

Love your site smile

Thanks Angela,

Yes, the thought of being homeless does the trick for most of us. Looking forward to checking out your blog!

Personally I think that ambition is very much necessary. Not dreams mind you, but ambition. Something that you MUST achieve before you die.

Money is God in this society. Those who have it are worshiped. Those who do not are beaten down.

It depends on who you associate with. Not everyone is this way.

This is an interesting discussion. I do not like ambition, personally. I think in this culture we have this crazy 'success' monkey on our backs. I'd rather see people make just enough to pay the bills and then kick back. I wish we valued that more.

Hi Jilly,

I agree, in that I don't like the "success monkey" on our backs either. I don't like that people feel they aren't "successful" if they aren't rich in the monetary sense. But I like ambition when it's directed in ways that improve society or humanity. If financial success is one of the results; great. But the underlying key should be helping others, not just ourselves. Maybe the best (and only?) thing we can do is lead by example?
