Hi Joy:
Finally made some time to stop by and check out your AWESOME site.
The following text from your article reminded me of what I need to be doing - thanks! (I have highlighted in GREEN)

If you feel your motivation draining because of jobs, tasks or chores that have to get done, remember that there are various self development tips for helping your drive to return. It is also worth having a good think about exactly what you want to do in life and considering what steps you might need to take to move towards that point.

My tips: Be realistic. This requires acknowledging and accepting some reality. Focus on the work itself, not the job. Keep your professional life and personal life separate. Be flexible.

Great tips, Richard!
I would also add to find creative ways to make a job fun or tolerable. First, they need to find out what it is about the job that makes it so horrible. They may be bored. It may be the people. It may not have anything to do with the work at all. Getting to the root of the problem will help the outcome.
1 - If available, ask for new opportunities (not necessarily a promotion). A new skill to learn? Training? Cross training? Offer to "wear other hats"
2- Talk to the people who are making your life miserable. Do they have a habit that drives you up the wall. Get help if needed.
3- If it's home spilling into work, again here too you may need help or devise some moments for you time to make the transition from home to work and back easier.
If it's a task - get it done and out of the way. Like eating veggies is to me, eat them first so I can do the enjoyable things later.

Eat the frog first.
That is a business tip my husband read somewhere that has stuck with him. Do the thing you are least looking forward to in your day first. Get the part you "hate" over with. He has made this a habit and finds that the rest of his day is more productive when he doesn't procrastinate the things he doesn't really want to do!

Dear Joy, I had written a post and when editing it it disappeared.!
There is a lot of HATE mentionned in all the posts.Hate or love is a decision,a view,a thought. In 1983 I was in the insurance business.Making at the time $32,000 ,that is in 1983.Then the first recession hit.My job was cut off.I live in a small town and did not want to move back to the city.Got myself a job as diswasher in a chinese restaurant and also janitor for hold on to your hat $ 4.00 an hour. $32,000 a year to $4.00 an hour.
One day the sewers broke in a crawl in basement of the restaurant So we put on gloves and filled 8 giant garbage bags of human feces. The person ,I was working with, turns up to me and says :How can you be whistling right now.I looked at him and told him, what follows.I beleive in a superior power that I call the Universe.
Whatever happens comes from my higher power and I live it to the full extent,in complete bliss. It's easy when you are always living in the NOW.My life has been totally or almost ,blissful for the last 3 years.each event lived is a further step on my path.
Anyone can choose hate or love.
With my deepest respect _/\_ loongdragon

Dear Loongdragon -
I would respectfully suggest that not anyone can choose love or hate, because not all brains are at a point where they can tackle that kind of choice. If someone has been brought up their entire life with one way of life, they cannot just "flip a switch" and be different. It takes time and effort, encouragement, a supportive atmosphere, and an ability to be higher on Maslow's hierarchy than struggling for bare necessities.
I think it's a luxury for many to even be able to ponder this question. They are struggling to figure out how to find food to eat, so they don't die.
I think it's important for us not to assume choices are black and white, as in "anybody can do this, it's easy, stop being lazy". I think it's important to couch the concept as "this is a challenging path for many, because it goes against everything they have been taught since they were first born". We can then say that we can be here to help someone start on that path, when they are ready to take the first step.
You were able to do it because of your background and your experiences. Not everyone was as fortunate to have those same experiences and background, to be at that place to make that mental path work. We should be gentle with people who have to struggle with a less supportive path.
For those people, we speak to them in the language of hate, because that is what they know and understand, and that is their starting point. It's key in communication to start with a common language that the listeners relate to and understand.
