I'm glad you enjoyed the article, and yes, I absolutely recommend the book. What I like about Suze Orman is that she seems to present things with a lot of common sense. She doesn't spout off "get rich quick schemes," but if you follow her advice, there's a good chance your financial situation will improve.

Yes, ever since being laid off in my 50's in 2008, this is a fear I have allowed to rob me from gaining my financial independence and joy in life.

I can't imagine anyone *not* being afraid after getting laid off in their 50s. Depending on the type of work you do, things change so fast -- it's hard to keep your skills up to date, plus the emotional upheaval on top of it... that's a lot to deal with!!

Try to surround yourself with positive people and things, and most of all... believe in yourself!!
