We read that mint helps to keep away ants and mice, so we have now planted it around the porch and side of the house. Here's when it first went in - Here's only 11 days later, it was already beginning to fill in - The poor mint is now under a blanket of snow. My basil and rosemary and dill is inside, but the mint will have to fend for itself. It *should* be ok to last until the spring - my sage is in the same area and it comes back wonderfully each year. I guess we'll see how the mint does!

Herbs are very strong in nature. We had wild mint growing on our farm in Kentucky and snow was very common.

The mint survived the winter and is doing well! This is a different planting of the mint, this is on the side of the house. Maybe I should make some mint tea

Lisa, your mint looks wonderful! I was thinking it would make for a great cup of relaxing tea after dinner as mint aids in digestion and helps if you have an upset tummy.
I would be drying some of that to pull out during a cold winter day.

Mint is excellent for tea, tabouli salad, and other recipes. At one time I had several types of mint growing in my yard.....apple mint, orange mint, pineapple mint, chocolate mint, peppermint, and spearmint. They all smell so lovely. Once it gets going mint will spread like wildfire and take over everything.

Yes our aim is for the mint to spread and fill in all alongside the house, to keep away the ants I'll have to try some tea!

I love mint. I often add it to water and then put in the frig. In an hour or so, you have mint water, which is delicious.
I love putting in Tabouli salad too, Debbie. I have a tasty Lebanese salad recipe too that calls for lots of mint and we eat that often.

Debbie, I forgot about chocolate mint! Oh my goodness that is soooo delicious. You can close your eyes and get lost in it's aromatic scent. I add it to a cup of tea or coffee and you would think you put the real thing in it. Yummy!

Here's the mint in its current state. It's thriving.

I have never known mint to not thrive! My water mint from the pond has escaped and is running around the backyard.
