So I was talking to a lady at work and we got on the subject of being CF. She said that she didn't really want children but couldn't afford birth control so she ended up getting pregnant. I really just wanted to hit her in the head. I mean really if you compare the cost of birth control to the cost of raising a child it doesn't even compare. I was just wondering if any of you have ever experienced something like?

Burt, My favourite genre of book would have to be historical fiction. I just love those century spanning sagas!

Are you serious? That's why there'sfamily planning places; i never went, but I know they exist. Now, if someone doesn't have access to the place to get birth control...well have oral instead! I hope I'm allowed to say that on here. Aren't condoms like five dollars?

Hmmm... That's way cool bookwormer !!! I'm male and I decided not to have children 'cause me likes quiet thinking and reading time with a minimum of materialistic needs. Give me an example of historical fiction... I'm unclear..
Are you serious? That's why there'sfamily planning places
I know when she told I was amazed talk about living in the dark ages. I think that most people who want children don't think about the complete situation they are getting into. They just see a baby that is smiling and want one. Burt, An example of historical fiction would be Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet, Sarum; Princes of Ireland by Edward Rutherford. Amazing! I agree with your reasons for not having children. I love quiet! I don't know how people can deal with children, they loud, rude, and dirty.

Planned Parenthood
After many years of not being allowed to suggest or distribute birth control. Planned Parenthood is once more allowed to function the way in which it was intended.

Red Door Clinic
Even if you don't live in Minnesota they can likely give you a referral for your area.

Call your local crisis line, which can be found in blue pages of your local phone book or by calling directory assistance.

Contact your community's Public Health Nurse. Often she is allowed to dispense birth control. If she is unable she will refer you to a place that will assist.

I look forward to reading your comments.

Can't afford birth control? The stupidest thing I ever heard. Just with the money you invest on a baby on his/ her first year (pram, car seat, clothes, pampers, bottles...) you could buy condoms for two lifetimes. In Germany the copper IUD costs about 120 euros, that's about the price of the car seat alone, lol.

Your coworker kinda sounds like a friend of mine. She got pregnant and told me the reason was "I could never remember to take my pill so we decided to just see what happens." I have been on the pill for 10 years...through vacations on the other side of the planet, college finals, moving to a new state, my wedding, etc. and have NEVER missed a pill in those 10 years. If you truly want birth control, you find a way.
