I thank god that we are child-free and going to remain child-free in the following situations:
10) Because when I want to go out to eat, I want to go to places my fiancee and I enjoy, not Chuck-e-cheese, McDonald's or Burger King.
9) I enjoy many outside the home activities to which I would never dream of taking an infant or young child the way some parents insist upon doing.
8) Because I like to listen to music, not screaming infants or whiny toddlers and am a fan of peace and quiet when I want it.
7) Because I enjoy having animals and would not tolerate a child hitting them or pulling on their ears and tails.
6) When I write and draw, and am the type to become horribly irritated if I am interrupted. If I had a baby screaming in the next room every time I tried to do something else, I'd lose it.
5) So I don't have to watch my normal habits carefully.
4) When my fiancee and I want to hold one another and watch a movie.
3) When I have to wait in line for something and there's that one mother in line with a screaming infant.
2) Every time I see children misbehaving terribly in public.
And finally, the number one reason that I am so grateful for being child-free is...
1) EVERY TIME I AM AROUND MY SISTER'S KIDS.

Seeing parent lugging strollers, carriers, car seats etc on planes, car rental and airport shuttle buses. I'm a flight attendant and just came back from a trip on vacation. I'm glad I don't have to lug that extra stuff around with me. My rollaboard is bad enough let alone having to haul the equivalent of a large squirmy bowling ball plus all their accessories.

Yeah I can see their fruastration as they have to move, open/close strollers etc.
Today I was at the library which surprisingly they didn't have story and craft time this week. (YAY let's hope they don't have craft time again)
Anyway, studying away when I hear a mother and her friend deep in conversation. Then this little voice softly goes "Mommy...mommy". Didn't think anything of it until the tone turned whiny and it was "Mommy lets go."
The mother ignored it and continued on talking letting the kid of I think four or five go "Mommmmmy I wannna go homeee, now please mommy." Then he started to sulk.
This went on for a few moments until the mother goes to her friend "Well it looks like it's time to go home."
The look of satisfation on that kid's face was just

I've got one...
About a month ago, my husband and I were invited to a barbeque at my husband's friend's house. The friend has a 1 yr old and his wife is pregnant with their second, so, we knew the barbeque was going to be baby group friends and us, but, my husband is good friends with these people, so, I put on a smile and went...what I wasn't prepared for, and am grateful for being child free because of, was that we were the only guests who were dressed well with makeup and hair done, and, while the rest of the tired, messy, haggard parents were talking about what solid foods Emma was eating, we were talking about our recent trip to Cozumel, and our next trip to Paris on our anniversary...so, I am grateful to be child free and always arrive at a party put together and well rested with stories of wonderful vacations.

Exactly.....
I can't tell you how many times I've seen mothers especially, out in public or at events, looking haggard with dumpy clothes and hair not presentable. I know I don't ever want to look like these women. It seems that there is just no time or pride with some of these people to take care of themselves and manage to look neat, at the very least.

Sam and Cassie, I notice this as well. Often the dads look fine and well put together while the mother is at an unhealthy weight, and often seem to take no pride in appearance.

And why is that???
Even in this day and age where dads pitch in more to help with the kids, why is it that it is ok for a lot of these dads to look all rested and spiffed up, while the mothers look like they could use some sleep and a total makeover. Where is the respect for these women? I realize that this is the life the women chose, but do they really look all that happy???
To be honest, I had a funny feeling that moms in general still do the majority of the work when it comes to caring for the kids. It was one of the factors that affected my decision to be child free. It was not the most significant reason, but I did feel that if I had had a child that I would be the one to do most of the work. Where would that leave time for myself?
In a lot of cases men still get away easy. They want a family, but they get out of the majority of the work and stress involved in raising the kids. No wonder they look so good.....

No make-up, jeans, t-shirt, flip-flops... that's all I'm willing to give the world. There are a lot of reasons I'm glad I don't have kids, but having time/energy to dress up isn't one of them. I have both, I just don't care what other people think about "how I look." I just want to be comfy, and far be it from me to deny anyone else that right.

One of my jobs is installing safety equipment in the homes of people with children under five for the council in my area. So, basically, every time I leave a job! Not that random but still very satisfying though.

I don't know how many times I can go over to a family event of my fiancee's and hear his mother and Deanna (his sister) talk about the child that her husband's sister just had. Basically, every time I go see them it makes me not want children more and more. It's absolutely all they talk about and has been ever since I told them I didn't want kids.
It has been driving me crazy because now I feel like Every time I am around his mother, she's comparing me to Deanna. My ability to cook and what I cook, my style, what I like and most definitely if I am going to make her grandbabies or not. What's worse is how Deanna compares me to HERSELF every time I'm around. If I like something, she hates it. If I hate something, she likes it. If I think something is fun, she doesn't enjoy it. If I wear a certain article of clothing, she'd never pick it out herself. If there's a specific kind of food I'm good at making, she doesn't like it. And where I don't particularly care for or want kids, she adores them and they're all she ever talks about.
I thank god David and I are going to remain child-free every time I have to go to see his sister and listen to her talk about everything that makes her oh-so-superior to me. I'm glad I'm not having kids, if only just to have one MORE reason to not be like her.
