So, I think I'm just moody today, but up on Facebook was a post " Mom's, I need quick and easy recipe ideas. I need other moms input."

This irritated me,lol! As I said maybe I'm being [censored], but cooking healthy meals is my hobby. The woman who wrote the post feeds her kids horrible junk food day in and day out. It's like a "mom" cult mentality.

Don't you know moms are the only ones who know how to cook. Those who don't have kids to cook for can't cook because they don't have to. They eat out every day at fabulous restaurants and scowl at the people who bring their noisy children with no manners to said restaurants. So of course they only seek out recipes from moms because they are banned from eating out because of their kids.

My best guess at translation would be: "I need other moms' input" is her way of saying "I need something bland and easy my fussy kids won't throw a tantrum over."

It is a shame. Many moms forget it takes a village and her comment was thoughtless. I fondly remember many people in my life who could cook regardless of their "mom" status. You made me remember growing up around my two aunts. They never had children but we spent time with them often. One was a super good cook, I still long for her manicotti and galumpkis. Of course the other one couldn't boil macaronni. I think the microwave was invented before her cooking sister moved out so she was lucky.

I'm willing to bet that as many childless women there are that can cook there are just as many moms that can't.

My sister had 4 kids, all of whom grew up to have major problems. She cooked Kraft Spaghetti on her fancy meal days. Beanie weenies were her other food to cook. Oh, and mashed potatoes.

She was a lovely person, but not so hotsie at being a single mom raising kids. I could cook long before I had kids. In fact, as a child, I cooked whenever I stayed at her house. Somebody needed to do it, and she was willing to let me rummage about her kitchen. Our mom, a wonderful cook who loved her spotless kitchen, kept me away from the stove at our house.
