Really good advice! I used to hold a lot of resentment inside over things that happened in the past. A few years ago I started reading books by Dr. Wayne Dyer, especially, The 10 Secrets of Success and Inner Peace. That book really changed my life and I'd highly recommend it if you have trouble letting go of anger and resentments.

Great article. Sometimes it seems so hard to let go of those old resentments and anger. I spent years being angry at my exhusband. It didn't help me any, sure didn't hurt him or bother him. We saw each other last year. It had been 19 years since I saw him. We were both very adult and I am sure my daughter was glad to see us being civil to one another!

Meditation is a choice. You can choose to meditate on what is good, or choose to think about what is bad. When you feel yourself slipping into bad thoughts, try and concentrate on what is good in your life.

It's hard when you are very tired and trying to get to sleep.

Have you seen this article? Practicing Daily Gratitude Maybe if you keep a journal as the article suggests, you can read it when you are feeling down.

I've kept a gratitude journal once. I wrote in it daily for about seven months. It did nothing for me. I did not even keep it afterwards.
I even tried last year to make a daily gratitude ritual for myself each night, since everyone always talks so much about gratitude. It still didn't move me.
For some reason that kind of thing does not work for me. I also resist platitudes and homilies. I know these things work for some people. I guess it's okay to not have that gene; we all are different types.
