My husband (and his mom) left 3 months ago - it's amazing. While every now and then I feel a twinge (they are currently still staying with friends about 400 miles away). I feel kind of bad that he is still jobless and has lost a lot - but my life is a sigh of relief.
Every day, I continue to realize - hey, I feel good today. I still have things to work on, but I'm happy.
Marriages are sometimes not easy to end, but each day gets better and better!

Keep your spirits up Dianne! I had to go through a divorce before and it was not easy. My exhusband lost a lot as a result of our divorce. I pretty much through myself into my kids and my job and before I knew it, I felt better. Each day was a step in the right direction!

With holidays approaching it may be equally difficult. It so depends on why a relationship ends.
If it's in the best interest it did, well, I always planned something for myself, like making a holiday align with a new country's custom of menu - so I'd learn something.
Sometimes holidays make both sides see how they could have done things differently...but I think/I feel, there's an internal scale somewhere that lets you know whether something can be salvaged for the better or released so you can get past the worse.

I know for some people, holidays may be depressing. I'm actually looking forward to him being gone for the holidays. Last Christmas, the husband and his mother were here. We were all supposed to go to my parents house. I was bringing things to cook, MIL didn't have to bring anything. The day arrived, we were all dressed to go and boom - she changed her mind and refused to go so the husband didn't want her to be alone so he said he'd stay with her...granted my parents had already cooked all this food.
Anyway about 2 hours after the kids and I got to my parents house, apparently she changed her mind and decided to come, insisting that she wanted to bring something. I said, dinner was in an hour. They showed up 3 hours later with a smushed box of donuts from the corner gas station.
No....I'm really looking forward to my first no stressed holiday in 3 years!
