I'm so happy that I found this Forum. I'm going to be a Step Mom soon...As in two month's time! I have no children of my own, but plan to, hopefully, have at least one. I have not had much interaction with children, but, generally, I love them. I am pretty sure I will not be a "wicked stepmother" as that would be very much against my nature. However, I will have to contend with moving to a new country and the cultural, racial and social differences... I'm not at all daunted by the prospect, though...I'm socially adept, independent and adventurous so will make the best of it. Anyway, this Forum is where I will come whenever I need advice... or whatever. lol

Thank you, Lisa! I plan to enjoy every bit of it. I'm rather self-sufficient so I'm not worried. I'm moving to the Netherlands, but I'm not at all overwhelmed nor particularly awed by the prospect. Apart from having traveled a lot in my lifetime, I always enjoy a challenge. As for the kids, I don't plan to try to be their mother. They already have a loving, supportive, very involved and super capable mother. Instead, I will be another respectable adult who will be there to love and help care for them. Over time, they will decide what sort of relationship they wish to have with me...I hope to gain their trust and respect...perhaps love, too...by my actions. Depending on how things develop, I'll be on this Forum a lot! lol

Angel68...I too, love your spirit and optimism. Like life in general, stepmothering is what you make it.
How wonderful that you acknowledge bio mom and are not in competition with her. I promise this will ease your path with her, your husband and the children.

Thanks joediemt! The funny thing is, I have not met them in person yet, but I already love those girls! I think it's because: 1. They are children ( I love kids); 2. I really do love their father (how could I not love his kids? He loves them so much!) 3. They seem very intelligent and well-adjusted... I'm hoping for and expecting the best. In any case, I'm the adult and no matter what they do, I will continue being the adult. And, if nothing else, they WILL have cause to respect me!
