Hi Everyone:

Do you think you could obtain a job working with computers with the computer knowledge you now have?

Reason for asking:
It may just be me, but it seems that the "younger" generation (I am 52/lol) can just "slide" in some organization's door and thrive.

Now don't get me wrong, I LOVE computers when they decide to "cooperate" - but want to throw them out the window or door when they don't. So with this said, I do not have that "famous" degree that says I am computer smart.

With the economy the way it is now, employers can now be "picky" about these degrees.

Now I have an issue with these "degrees" - just because someone got it, does not mean that they KNOW how to do stuff. And by this I mean, let us not put folks aside who have "working knowledge"...

I will use me as example:
I KNEW Microsoft 2007, went to several classes, but was so GLAD to finally get a job that USED it smile Nothing like using it to back up that "book" knowledge...

Now your turn...

Thanks,

Yup definitely.. well as far as i know, here in India , you can only get a good computer related job , like high end programming or web designing, etc.. when you have degrees of that particular course and if you are graduate!!
And for something like Microsoft 2007.. They just keep a small test in the interview round , to check whether the person really knows to operate...
Here they hardly look for certificates!!
But its always better to get degrees !!! smile

In this technological era, jobs without computer may not be found. 90% of our works are related to computers. In order to get good job in IT sector with well pay we need to have good knowledge about the software's, or designing, or networking or SEO.

Wow, thank you for ALL the responses and I can see everyone agrees, computers are a way of doing business in these times.

And yes, I love using them, but don't see myself ever getting "addicted" to one(lol).

It amazes me when I hear of folks who lost jobs, families, friends and so on due to staying up ALL NIGHT playing computer games or whatever.

Folks, we have to have a "balance" in all things.
