Having owned a few businesses, where I was dealing with dep motions, like real estate and interior decorating, I certainly have experienced a great deal of stress. However I had a great mentor who taught me how to relax, when that panic phone call came, with my customer, screaming, "Stop everything I have changed my mind." You take a deep breath and calmly say, "I'll be right over." Meantime as you start to sweat, get in your car and start seeing the thousands of dollars going out the window. You take a deep breath hold it a few seconds as you breathe out thru pursed lips see a 3 flashing before your eyes, do this again with a big 2 and again with a big 1, You will become quite calm and know you will save the deal. It really works. Try it!

The body can usually adjust to a stressor, however if the stress becomes prolonged the body will try to adapt to the stress and will be in a flight or flight mode.

Aromatherapy can help with stress management by a direct link to the limbic and autonomic system. The hypothalamus is the major control center of the autonomic nervous system. It controls the sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions which activate the fight or flight adrenaline production. As we inhale the essential oils, there is a direct link to the limbic system of the brain via the olfactory nerve. This triggers the secretion of neurotransmitters such as seratonin or encephalins which relax or uplift the spirits. Oils that are excellent for stress management include: neroli, rose and jasmine. Citrus oils such as bergamot, mandarin, and lemon uplift the spirits, and clary sage and geranium are excellent for balancing the hormones.
