Every year when I go away on vacation I'm exposed to all kinds of horrible stories on the t.v. Last year it was the disappearance of Kyron Horman (we were traveling in Oregon that summer so the news coverage there was even more intense). This summer it was the Casey Anthony case.

Do you think these cases should get so much press? In my opinion these stories seems to desensitize people to this type of thing and could even give ideas to the emotionally unstable. I hate these kinds of stories but once you start watching it's so hard not to stop.

Does anybody else feel this way. It's like you just want some closure!

I agree...It seems like there is a lot of sensationalism around stories like this and good stories are pushed to the back burner. The media seems to make a lot out of the horrific and I do feel that it desensitizes many to these terrible tragedies.

Casey Anthony is a pathological liar. She has serious issues... Karma. One day!

One thing I saw as I watched the dynamics of this family play out in a public forum is... lying is a way of life in this family. Cindy, though certainly a heartbroken grandmother, is a queen of spin. Raised in a family where it's ok to lie for a good reason (good being determined by what is easier for the person in the liar's chair) explains how Casey felt so comfortable in that chair, and it didn't start with Caylee's disappearance.

As a mom, I hope that it was a terrible accident. It just seems too horrifying to imagine a woman going from those pictures of laughing and playing and sleeping with her little girl to cold-heartedly murdering her. I just don't know how you look at that child you love and turn that switch that allows you to take her life.

I've seen fear and grief compartmentalized in people I'm close to and it can look pretty weird to those that don't process things that way. I'm hoping that this is the case here.

This is definitely one of those stories where we can only hope that there will be answers sometime in the future. It is a shame to have to look at the loss of that precious child as a murder. There definitely needs to be some kind of accountability to parents and the community when a child is missing.

I completely agree that I would like to see less coverage of this kind of story. Frankly I'd rather hear about a Brad and Angelina spat or Jen's latest love, then about horrific crimes that make me feel sick. Sadly, once a story pulls good ratings, all the media outlets go after it.

Despite going on vacation and seeing "Casey Anthony.... " headlines, I managed to resist the urge to even discover what the case was about until the verdict was due. It seems like a sad case and while I wish the media would give it less time, I can proudly say that I limited my media consumption on the topic to about an hour. Even that was too much.
