I found a pattern for knitting a garter stitch baby blanket,using baby wool and using size 13 us and size 3 us needles, if I used 8ply wool what size needles would I use.

I would make a swatch to check the gauge and adjust the needle size accordingly. I so dislike making swatches, but sometimes you just gotta do it.

The only other thing I can think of is that you use the size three needles for a bit then continue on using the size 13, but I agree that condo knitting is your best bet.

I am not fond of making swatches, I write notes all over the place, what needles did I used, what yarn, what gauge, etc. So being an innovative graphic designer I have created these little gauge note 'books'. You can write all your notes about the swatches and attached them to the swatch. They also feature my funky knitting designs. Very handy!
