BellaOnline Forums Family Adoption Advice for a sister?

Hi everyone. I'm hoping somebody whos been involved in the process can help me out here. When I was 3 my mother had a baby she gave up for adoption. When my sister turned 18 I found her right away.I was very lucky that my search was only a few days long.So my mother and I met her and she even invited us to her high school graduation.It was amazing she looks just like me only much more beautiful.Well after the graduation I hoped she would call or something but she never did so I waited about 2 weeks and called her to see how she was and if we could spend some time together.Basically she said she wasn't ready to have a relationship with me or our mom.Its been over 5 years I just want to get to know her.I was always prepared for the possibility of her rejecting us but when she invited us to the graduation I thought we were good.So it was pretty hard and Im not sure if I should try to make contact again or just hope she has a change of heart.I have a daughter know and she looks a lot like her aunt.I would like my sister to know that.I dont know what should I do?

She is probably still working through her hurt that she is feeling of why she was given up for adoption. I can understand why she would be reluctant about building a relationship with your Mother, but you had nothing to do with the decision, so you would think she would be excited about finding a sister. I would mail her cards and photos, on every major holiday, and just leave the ball in her court. I would think that one day she will finally give you a call to learn more of her bio side of her family, and build a relationship with you then. Good luck, Hope
