There a new article up on SciFi/Fantasy movies, a review of the latest Harry Potter movie:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

Love to know what you think of it!

We only just saw this because we had to wait for it to come out on DVD.

I did find the Harry-Hermoine dance scene a little creepy. I think they hadn't built up enough time yet to show how lonely they were and how this was appropriate. I realize some people felt the camping scenes were too long - but really it should have felt like much longer. Maybe show them wear down more, show more of a change, so that it wasn't a feeling of "Ron's gone for two seconds and they're at each other."

Great review Gail.

I thought the same thing about the camping you ladies did.... but actually, while I was watching the movies, I'd been in tears so much that they were a bit of a relief!

I'll watch it one more time just before I go see part 2.

And I'll probably cry all the way through that one too!

The books are So Much Better. Reading the books or listening to Jim Dale read them on audio is so much better.

I know I'm going to be howling at the end of part 2...
I have read all the books, so I know what to expect. Haven't heard the audios though - Jim Dale would be excellent.

Jim Dale is excellent. He won Grammy awards for his work on the audio versions of "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". I have read and listened to all of the books. I was lucky enough to get audio cassettes of "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone", "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" and "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" at a library book sale. I enjoy listening to them again and again.

I just saw this one again to get ready for Part Two. Loved it even more the second time. Very excited for the finale.

I think I want to wear a gryffindor scarf (or at least an outfit in those colors) to the cinema.

I don't know if you had the same thing in America, Jilly, but when the books were released here, many bookshops encouraged customers to turn up in Hogwarts colours when the books first went on sale. I attended two of these occasions, and they were great fun, with sales assistants walking round in wizard hats and people turning up with house scarves - lots and lots of Gryfindors and a sprinkling of rebellious Slytherins!
