I love to add pictures to my blog. I just like how it looks. But I also know placement is important because with all the folks reading blogs on their phones these days, it could mess up your layout.

I have started putting my pics on the right side of the screen, and that's supposed to help. I'm glad because I love those pics!

I heard a funny line the other day on a show "He's a great photo journalist and we need him. If I've learned anything from 20 years of working in print journalism it's that people don't read"

I thought this was so funny and also true. People prefer pics and video. Here's some scary stats about reading:

1/3 of high school graduates never read another book for the rest of their lives.

42 percent of college graduates never read another book after college.

80 percent of U.S. families did not buy or read a book last year.

70 percent of U.S. adults have not been in a bookstore in the last five years.

57 percent of new books are not read to completion.

Based on the questions I get via email all the time I would say these stats are pretty accurate.

I consider that add pictures to your blog is double-edged sword. Because search engines may don't like pictures so much,but the picture may arouse the reader's interest,thereby enhancing the amount of reading your blog. I just started my own blog and have one poem on it. I am still learning my way around the site but do have a friend there who is helping me. Once it gets going, I will be adding pics and my own images. I will do like Deanna does and put them on the right side of the text.

I have learned that from my site here and two others that adding picture/images really enhances the article. I always find one that relates strongly to my story/poem.

I own a personal blog, but i have little update...i like transship others' posts...looool

If you know how to tag your images correctly you can actually get more traffic with images and with video pages. Search engines love images and video but most importantly they love relevancy!

Monica, what is the best way to tag images?

Use the right keywords that are related to the image so if you are posting a pic of a pow wow then tag the image with 3 related highly searched keywords related to pow wows. You can use a variety of tools to find out what people are searching for most in your topic.

Wow Monica, those stats are totally crazy!!! That means 30 percent of the population is keeping Barnes and Noble going LOL!

I LOVE reading, and have a huge stack of books waiting to be read. My daughter only barely likes it. I tell her if she wants computer time, she has to read for an hour first - after she's read something, she like it, but wouldn't choose to read on her own

My husband only reads magazines.
