Okay, so I had a bit of an epiphany this morning: I jar fruits and vegetables from my garden, and local farms all summer, I also have lots of wool to wash. Why not use the water from the canner (as long as none of your jars leaked) to wash your wool. I just poured it into the sink, added my soap, and saved at least 2 gallons of water! Not to mention the energy that it would take to heat it!

That's an awesome green tip, Laun - thank you for sharing that!

I'm always looking for ways to save water.

That is awesome, Laura.

Right now it is monsoon season and i am working to refill my rain barrels. My water from last summer made it through to this summer! I am so pleased. I will save up for more barrels this year, i think, and expand my little domain of free H2O. smile

I do the rain barrels too, my handy husband brought home 2-100 gallon ones that now catch the roof runoff from the house. It has been really helpful with our dry July. I also love that they have taps at the bottom so I don't need a pump to use the water. We have found that some of the food manufacturers in our area have barrels and sometimes metal framed containers available for a very low price. Sure, our first few waterings smelled like syrup, but I think it increased the bee presence in the garden!
