I read the other day that most women are size 14 or higher. Is this true and at what size does plus size start?

In the clothing store plus size starts at 14. But some fashion houses that focus on plus sizes may care 10 or 12 as well, mostly because those are the sizes that like the fashions offered in plus sizes house, not because the company thinks of them as plus size.

In the fashion magazine world plus size or more correctly, full-figure begins at size 8 and goes to 16.

There is a fraction of the plus size community that believes that plus sizes start at 18.

Of course this all depends on how a store sizes their clothing. At Lane Bryant, I'm an 18 or 20. In other stores, I could be anywhere from an 18 to 24 or 1x to 3x. It depends on who is making the clothing and the cut, fit, and style.

I try on EVERYTHING I buy. I prefer to shop in stores, but occasionally will buy online.

Will let you all know how those tanks I bought from SWAK fit. Crossing my fingers!

It is hard to know since clothe sizes changes often. That even happens within the same brands. I used to wear size six for everything and since I never gained weight after I was done growing I always would buy my clothes without trying it on first but after a few times having to go back to the store for an exchange I started to try it on (only bottoms - so far for tops its always the same size except for coats because now its 1 size larger). But it looks now they are doing that with panties too because yesterday I put on a new one and it was at least one size too small, got that pair a few months ago so I could not return it; I hope they don't start this with bras too!
