I have been asked a lot lately if I feel tarot is feminine or masculine. I wrote my latest article on it since I do feel the tarot is feminine. What do you think?

Surely I think more women do tarot than men, but as far as decks go, I think it depends on the deck. I think RWS feels pretty androgynous, mother peace -- obviously feminine and Voyager, masculine. I cannot connect w/Voyager at all.

And I was talking to the creator (male) who told me that, anecdotally, more men like his deck than women.

I do think that tarot is an art where one uses a process rather than a goal, which is why I think more women do it than men.

Yes Caat, I wrote another article on the masculine side of the tarot as well. There is a balance between the two but for the most part, all my decks feel feminine to me. I asked a male friend that reads also and he said they feel feminine to him but he said he has one deck that is very masculine. Although he doesn't use that deck much, he thinks of the tarot as feminine. His wife on the other hand feels the tarot is masculine and uses masculine decks. So I guess it is all in how you feel and what works best for you. For me; I tend to go with feminine decks.

Hi Andreas,

No I have not used that deck but I looked it up and I think I might like it. Thanks for sharing.

I would agree that to me it would depend on the deck, and how that deck feels to me!
