I missed all the excitement this morning, but have heard a lot on the topic the last few days, especially on the radio. I was surprised how much air time it got on the local NPR but I guess it attracts listeners. I feel as others here - this is a message that has been repeated throughout history, it is a tendency of us humans to feel the world is going to end soon. And maybe some day it will (but as some pointed out, what will actually end?)
I think the May 21 discussions, and the 2012 discussions, are about the potential for shift that we all feel...that there is a crises point of sorts being approached on many different levels, environmental, spiritual, political, social...and we (humanity) have choices to make...the choices we make will impact what kind of future we have here on earth, and yes, maybe even impact how much longer earth is habitable for humans, but it's not about a certain 'day' in which everything comes to a head...
Just my 2 cents:-) I am sure we will be hearing about this alot again in 2012, here in the forums and everywhere.

Salutation to the Dawn
Look to this day! For it is life, the very life of life. In its brief course Lie all the verities and realities of your existence: The bliss of growth; The glory of action; The splendor of achievement; For yesterday is but a dream, And tomorrow is only a vision; But today, well lived, makes every yesterday a dream of happiness, And every tomorrow a vision of hope. - Kalidasa, 4th Century CE Sanskrit Poet

No wonder somebody posted a random thing about this in my forum then they chose to remove it but the link was still visible from my exercise site so I was kind of confused about what it was.
I think every day is judgement day and people who think that a special day for this exists just need to look around and see that we all pay for our actions or inactions in some way or another daily.

Hi all, I got pulled in by all the 'end times' discussions going on, and decided to write an article on the Hindu and Tibetan Buddhist teachings re: the Kali Yuga , or our current time period in those calendars, for those interested...

Thank you I just had a feeling I knew this guy and then I GOT "passionate", lol. Plus, he was monopolizing the forums. No one could get a post in edge-wise either. Anyway, for whatever reason I crossed paths with this person sometime back and it stayed with me. As bad as the economy is, the message isn't really a reference to a litteral Judgement day. This guy spent $140,000.00 on one of the largest self-advertising campaigns predicting mass destruction, a 6:00 pm earthquake God's wrath, etc. with billboards aross the country. I caught a clip sometime ago and was shaking my head as I was listening. NYC Man Spends Life Savings I hadn't anticipated coming any closer to him that this clip though. If he sincerely wanted fair advertising, all he had to do was ask. What he did is more reflective of why not to purchase his book. His book ran from around $21.00 now at $14.00. So really he only needs to sell 8,200 copies or so, just to break even. If the guy wants to have a discussion about his views, that's fine, but as far as the book itself holding truth? I'm considering the source as to why it it's not likely that it does.

Well he must have some measure of a following. The billboards made it all the way to South Carolina. Is that 6:00 pm Eastern Daylight Savings Time?

He's buying or renting all of those billboards to get attention that just a website or Amazon can't provide.
He's predicting the end of the world, 6:00 pm NY time. So Eastern local time.
It's also the time he's telling people that God is going to stop saving anyone. That's not the God I know. He's also still groccery shopping and has his church open for this coming Sunday's day of business.

Our "passionate" poster is obviously one who truly believes in the May 21 judgment day. His posts were removed and he was banned from the entire site.
If he had started a thread on it and only posted in one forum he might still be here -- instead, he put himself up for judgment and was banned. To flood the entire site was his mistake.

I didn't think about that. You're exactly right. The thread would have actually been the perfect thing. I'm the insomniac from hell, he would have had a lot to offer, saving me from myself But moreover, we get a lot of traffic and the good kind where people actually want to put their money where their mouth is, spending on what they can identify with and passing the word, free of charge. This all seems so symbolic. The irony I mean. Like what's real and the power with in that to carry and what's not, coming in like a lion but having nothing to offer but that...a fleeting moment.
