I'm not a knitter, so it's hard for me to buy my mother in law a good gift! Her birthday's coming up in June...what's the best knitting gift you've received?

A gift certificate to her favorite yarn shop would be my suggestion. My Mother-in-law, a master with knit and crochet, really liked hers for Christmas.

Another idea would be a gift subscription to one of the great knitting magazines. I don't currently subscribe to any, but I'm sure the members here could recommend a few to choose from.

My snood. Someone made it for me and I wore it winter after winter and then I lost it. I wish I could find a pattern for a snood.

Failing that, the cardigan I am knitting in a beautiful green shade. The pattern is from a 1945 knitting pattern book.

That's a hard one, I agree that I love gift certificates to my favorite yarn stores. But I also like gifts of yarn also. For example this past Christmas I received some yarn in a color that I wear a lot, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I loved that the giver knew that the color was one of my favorites.

I'd love to get some unique yarn but it depends if the person giving it was a knitter or knew about yarn. I'd like a gift certificate to a yarn store or an online source, myself. Even to Joann's or somewhere like that.

No one ever gets me things like that tho. I always have to buy my own-lol

I was given a circular needle from Signature Needle Arts and although expensive, they are amazing to knit with. I love them, and have them on my Christmas list.
